Swedish for License to practice

Healthcare workforce educated in the countries other than EU/EEA need Swedish License to Practice (Legitimation) to have the permission to work in Sweden. This process starts with assessment of education at the Socialstyrelsen. If you are graduated in a medical field but from outside the EU/EEA, you should start requesting for evaluating your educational records at the Socialstyrelsen. This process might take a few months for your educations to be approved by the National Board of health and Welfare of Sweden.

 

Legitimation for doctor nurse dentist

Medical titles like, Doctor of Medicine, Nurse, Dentist etc. are protected titles in Sweden and you MUST have a Swedish License to Practice (Legitimation) to be allowed to work in any of these professions in Sweden. As one of the very first qualifications to obtain this license, you should reach the advance level of C1 in Swedish language. The best way to start is to find an intensive Swedish language program with the approach of teaching you both General and the Medical Swedish.

 

Practice medical profession in Sweden

If you have finished your studies in a medical field or already working as a medical staff and intend to practice your medical profession in Sweden and start working as healthcare workforce in Sweden, there are Swedish language programs that may help you all the way.
